Dr. Emily Hughes grew up in North Texas. She received her B.S. in Animal Science with a minor in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M in 2010. After graduation, she quickly realized that she wanted to continue working with horses and decided to pursue a M.Ag. in Animal Science with a focus in equine reproduction from Texas A&M. During her graduate studies, she applied to veterinary school and went on to graduate from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2019.
After graduating vet school, Dr. Emily completed her Veterinary Internship at Texas Equine Hospital in Bryan, Texas. She then began her work as an equine veterinarian in North Texas. Her primary interests are in equine reproduction, wound care, routine wellness, and lameness/sports medicine. Dr. Emily is also completing training in the Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist course through Chi University in Reddick, Florida to provide alternative medicine options for equine patients and is a current member of AVMA, AAEP, TEVA, and SFT.
In her free time, Dr. Emily enjoys spending time with her family, boyfriend, and her Corgis - she has 4 and counting!
